Speaker of the House Destin Hall has recommended Tyler Younts for appointment by the North Carolina General Assembly to a six-year term as a Commissioner of the North Carolina Industrial Commission. The recommendation is subject to a vote by the General Assembly.

The Industrial Commission is pleased to announce the appointment of Gina E. Cammarano to serve as a Deputy Commissioner. She will be assigned to the Industrial Commission’s Raleigh office. In addition to her Deputy Commissioner duties, Cammarano will continue to perform the responsibilities of General Counsel, including rulemaking, until further notice.
The Industrial Commission is pleased to announce the appointment of Kendra D. Roberts to serve as a Deputy Commissioner. She will be assigned to the Commission’s Charlotte regional office beginning August 3, 2026. Roberts brings five years of North Carolina workers' compensation litigation experience to the Commission, primarily representing defendants while also representing plaintiffs.
The Industrial Commission mourns the loss of our dear colleague and friend Deputy Commissioner Mark Hullender. Deputy Commissioner Hullender joined the Industrial Commission as a Deputy Commissioner in April of 2015, and he served the Commission honorably and with dedication for over 11 years. Prior to joining the Commission, he practiced law in Kings Mountain, North Carolina for many years, during which time he served on the North Carolina Indigent Defense Services Commission.
The Industrial Commission is pleased to announce the appointment of Josh D. Smith to serve as a Deputy Commissioner. He will be assigned to the Industrial Commission’s Raleigh office. A North Carolina State Bar Board Certified Specialist in workers’ compensation law, Smith brings comprehensive, well-rounded knowledge to the Commission, having represented both plaintiffs and defendants in workers’ compensation litigation for over ten years. He also has experience representing Social Security Disability claimants at administrative law hearings.
The North Carolina Industrial Commission has been notified of a sophisticated fraud scheme targeting workers’ compensation claimants across multiple states through the use of official-looking communications and fake hearings. The scheme involves the impersonation of judicial officials, government employees, attorneys, and other workers’ compensation professionals for the purpose of stealing money from workers’ compensation claimants and other injured workers.
Governor Josh Stein has reappointed Wanda Blanche Taylor to serve a second six-year term as a Commissioner on the North Carolina Industrial Commission beginning July 1, 2026, subject to confirmation by the North Carolina General Assembly.
