Claims Administration Section

Processes forms, reviews and approves form agreements, and provides insurance coverage information

Clerk's Office

Ensures that filings are properly catalogued and routed to Industrial Commission staff and processes requests for copies of files

Criminal Investigations and Employee Classification Division

Investigates suspected violations of the Workers' Compensation Act and the Employee Fair Classification Act

Compliance Division

Assesses penalties against employers who are subject to the Workers' Compensation Act but fail to either carry workers' compensation insurance or qualify as a self-insured employer

Deputy Commissioner Section

Conducts full evidentiary hearings throughout the State in claims arising under the Workers’ Compensation Act, State Tort Claims Act, and Public Safety Employees’ Death Benefits Act

Executive Secretary's Office

Issues administrative rulings on motions and applications in cases not scheduled for hearing and appeal, and reviews and approves Compromise Settlement Agreements and Third-Party Distribution Orders

Full Commission Section

Hears appeals of Deputy Commissioner decisions and adopts agency rules under the North Carolina Administrative Procedure Act

Information Specialists Section

Assists unrepresented parties with procedural questions

Information Technology Section

Provides technical support to the Industrial Commission’s internal and external users and ensures the Industrial Commission’s effective and secure use of information technology

Mediation Section

Administers the Industrial Commission's Mediation Program, processes mediation forms, and rules on mediation-related motions

Medical Fees Section

Reviews medical bills in workers’ compensation claims, upon request, to determine the correct reimbursement amount under the Industrial Commission’s Medical Fee Schedule and processes medical provider fee disputes filed under the Commission’s Medical Provider Fee Dispute Resolution Procedure

Rehabilitation Professionals Section

Provides mandatory training for Rehabilitation Professionals, assists with Rehabilitation Rules questions, maintains the Industrial Commission's Rehabilitation Professional Registry, reviews and acknowledges Forms 25N assigning Rehabilitation Professionals, and provides medical rehabilitation consultative services in appropriate cases
