What We Do
The Full Commission consists of six Commissioners. Each Commissioner’s term lasts six years, and a Commissioner may serve up to two six-year terms. The Full Commission sits in panels of three Commissioners to hear appeals of Deputy Commissioner decisions. Following a careful review of all the evidence, the Full Commission issues its own decision, which contains detailed findings of fact and conclusions of law. The Full Commission also adopts agency rules pursuant to the requirements of the North Carolina Administrative Procedure Act.
The Industrial Commission places great value on its relationships with all of its stakeholders, including worker advocates and business and industry representatives. The Commission actively seeks input from its stakeholders on its procedures and rules, and it encourages its stakeholders to bring questions, concerns, and ideas to its attention so that problems can be solved and improvements can be implemented.
