Kendra D. Roberts Appointed to Serve as Deputy Commissioner

The Industrial Commission is pleased to announce the appointment of Kendra D. Roberts to serve as a Deputy Commissioner. She will be assigned to the Commission’s Charlotte regional office beginning August 3, 2026. 

Roberts brings five years of North Carolina workers' compensation litigation experience to the Commission, primarily representing defendants while also representing plaintiffs.

Roberts earned her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, becoming the first college graduate in her family. She then earned her Master of Education from Wake Forest University and taught English to public high school students for four years in Greensboro. After teaching, Roberts earned her J.D. with Honors from the University of North Carolina School of Law, where she served as Notes and Comments Editor for the North Carolina Journal of International Law and as President of the UNC Innocence Project. While in law school, Roberts also completed an externship with Justice Samuel Ervin IV of the Supreme Court of North Carolina and internships with Judge Allegra Collins and Judge Valerie Zachary of the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
