Chair Philip Baddour, III designated Robert J. Harris to serve as Senior Deputy Commissioner, effective March 1, 2019.
Harris began his professional, post-college career as a newspaper reporter in Johnston County. After returning to school to obtain his law degree, he began practicing law in 1994 with a concentration in employment law. Harris joined the Industrial Commission in 2003, and he served as a Special Deputy Commissioner until his appointment as a Deputy Commissioner in 2005.
Harris received his B.A. degree in English and philosophy from Yale University and his law degree the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law.
