The following table, according to the Snellen Notation, is the one used by the North Carolina Industrial Commission for determining the percentage of loss of vision. Loss in muscle functions or visual field may, in conjunction with other factors, indicate a greater percentage of loss of vision.

Eighty-five percent or more loss of vision is deemed to be industrial blindness under G.S. §97-31(19).
NOTE: Loss of vision must be based upon the reading without the use of a corrective lens.
