NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, pursuant to the rule-making authority vested in it by N.C. Gen. Stat. §97-80(a) and §143-300, the North Carolina Industrial Commission will consider adopting the following Rules to become effective upon adoption. The Commission solicits the comments of all interested persons, firms, and organizations who wish to comment concerning any aspect of the proposed Rules. Copies of the proposed Rules may be obtained by any interested person by addressing a request to the mailing address below. COPIES MAY ALSO BE OBTAINED ON THE INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION'S WEB SITE:

The proposed Rules are as follows: (1) Proposed Rule 409, concerning obtaining information from medical care providers; (2) Revised Rules for Mediated Settlement Conferences (Note: See Commentary on Proposed Revisions to Industrial Commission Rules Concerning Mediation and Neutral Evaluation by Mediation Coordinator John C. Schafer); and (3) Revisions to the Industrial Commission's Rules for Rehabilitation Professionals.

The Commission requests written comments on the proposed rules. In addition, there will be a Public Hearing held on the 23rd, 24th, and 25th days of June, 1998, starting at 9:00 A.M., in Room 2149 (the Utilities Commission Hearing Room), Dobbs Building--2nd Floor, 430 North Salisbury Street, Raleigh, NC 27611, during which the Commission will hear the verbal comments of persons scheduled to speak. Those desiring to make an oral presentation, not to exceed 10 minutes in length, should submit a request on or before June 22, 1998. Speakers at the Public Hearing are encouraged to prepare a written summary of remarks for the use of the Commission.
