Buck Lattimore, Chairman of the N.C. Industrial Commission, was presented the Outstanding Leadership Award by the North Carolina Association of Rehabilitation Professionals at the organization’s Annual Symposium in Greensboro on March 30, 2006.
In presenting the award, Linda Koch, vice chairman of the State Rehabilitation Advisory Committee, cited Lattimore’s “outstanding support and commitment to injured workers in North Carolina through partnership with rehabilitation professionals.”
“Buck Lattimore is a true leader. He has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions and the compassion to listen to the needs of others,” she said.
As Chairman of the Industrial Commission, Lattimore is the chief executive officer of the state agency that administers the workers’ compensation laws in North Carolina. The agency handles over 65,000 claims annually, orders over 9,500 mediations, conducts 1,500 contested case hearings, handles more than 500 appeals, and issues thousands of medical and judicial motions.
“I am honored by this award. But the recognition should go the rehabilitation professionals in this state that go the extra mile to help injured workers. It is an honor and privilege to work with and support these care givers,” Lattimore said.
Lattimore is a native of Cleveland County, NC. He is a graduate of Wofford College and has spent the last 35 years in top management positions in government and business. He joined the Industrial Commission in l994 as Administrator and became Chairman in 2000.
The Association of Rehabilitation Professionals is made up of Medical Case Managers, Rehabilitation Nurses, and Vocational Specialists from across the state.
