RE: Maximum Weekly Benefit for 2005

The North Carolina Industrial Commission has established the maximum weekly benefit for 2005 pursuant to N.C. Gen. Stat. §97-29. Effective January 1, 2005, the maximum weekly benefit applicable to all injuries and claims arising on and after January 1, 2005 shall be seven hundred and four dollars ($704.00).

The maximum weekly benefit was derived by multiplying the average weekly insured wage of six hundred and forty dollars and forty-three cents ($640.43) for the calendar year 2003, as determined by the Employment Security Commission in accordance with N.C. Gen. Stat. §96-8(22), by 1.10 and rounding the figure to its nearest multiple of two dollars ($2.00).

The minimum weekly benefit is thirty dollars ($30.00) as set forth in N.C. Gen. Stat. §97-29.
