TO: CARRIERS, SELF-INSURED EMPLOYERS, THIRD PARTY ADMINISTRATORS, AND OTHER PARTICIPANTS IN THE WORKERS’ COMPENSATION SYSTEM IN NORTH CAROLINA

RE: MAXIMUM WEEKLY BENEFIT FOR 2001

The North Carolina Industrial Commission has established the maximum weekly benefit for 2001 pursuant to N.C. Gen. Stat. §97-29. Effective January 1, 2001, the maximum weekly benefit applicable to all injuries and claims arising on and after January 1, 2001 shall be six hundred and twenty dollars ($620.00).

The maximum weekly benefit was derived by multiplying the average weekly insured wage of five hundred and sixty-three dollars and seventy-four cents ($563.74) for the calendar year 1999, as determined by the Employment Security Commission in accordance with N.C. Gen. Stat. §96-8(22), by 1.10 and rounding the figure to its nearest multiple of two dollars ($2.00).

The minimum weekly benefit is thirty dollars ($30.00) as set forth in N.C. Gen. Stat. §97-29.
