The North Carolina Industrial Commission has established the maximum weekly benefit for 2000 pursuant to N.C. Gen. Stat. §97-29. Effective January 1, 2000, the maximum weekly benefit applicable to all injuries and claims arising on and after January 1, 2000 shall be five hundred and eighty-eight dollars ($588.00).
The maximum weekly benefit was derived by multiplying the average weekly insured wage of five hundred and thirty-five dollars and thirty-two cents ($535.32) for the calendar year 1998, as determined by the Employment Security Commission in accordance with N.C. Gen. Stat. §96-8(22), by 1.10 and rounding the figure to its nearest multiple of two dollars ($2.00).
The minimum weekly benefit is thirty dollars ($30.00) as set forth in N.C. Gen. Stat. §97-29.
