RE: Karissa Davan Named Director of Claims Administration
Karissa Davan will become the N.C. Industrial
Commission's Director of Claims Administration on November 15th. The new
section, created by the combining of the Claims and Statistics Sections, will
provide administrative handling of non-contested claims and the processing of
forms.
Davan
has been with the Commission for more than two years, working as the Agency
Legal Specialist assigned to Commission Laura Mavretic. In this position, she
has had the opportunity to learn workers’ compensation law and procedure that
will be vital in her new position,
A graduate of Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tennessee, Karissa Davan earned her Juris Doctor degree in l995 from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California. She is licensed by the Bar in California and North Carolina. She practiced law for more than five years before coming to the Commission.
Before
entering the legal profession, Davan worked for retail giants Saks Fifth Avenue
and RH Macy & Company in management positions. She has supervised more than
165 employees.
She is a member of the Raleigh Junior League and an N.C. court-appointed Guardian Ad Litem.
