The Industrial Commission and the International Workers' Compensation Foundation are jointly sponsoring a Workers' Compensation Educational Conference, which is the first of its kind in North Carolina. The goal of this conference is to educate those who participate in the North Carolina workers' compensation system regarding current rules, procedures, policies and forms. The presenters are Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, and Department Heads of the Industrial Commission.
Breakout sessions will be utilized to discuss certain topics in specific detail for a more specialized view, whereas other topics will be presented from a more general perspective for a broad overview.
All employers, insurance adjusters, self-insured administrators, third party administrators, safety and human resource managers, employee and employer attorneys, health care providers, and rehabilitation providers are encouraged to attend. In fact, anyone interested in the workers' compensation system in North Carolina will receive valuable information at the conference.
Participants may be eligible for continuing education credits for conference attendance. Application has been made for credits in the following occupations: attorneys (CLE), carriers (CE Credit), and rehabilitation providers (CRC, CIRS, CCM). Every effort will be made to have forms available at the completion of the conference.
To date, the First Annual Workers' Compensation Educational Conference has been approved by the N.C. Board of Continuing Legal Education for 13.25 hours of Continuing Legal Education credit hours. All of the 13.25 hours are practical skills credits. In addition, the N.C. Department of Insurance has approved the conference for 12 hours of property and liability credit for insurance adjusters.
The costs for attending this informative conference is $200 per person if paid prior to August 1, 1996; $225 per person if paid prior to September 1, 1996; and $275 per person if paid after September 1, 1996. Registration fee includes conference materials and special functions, including two continental breakfasts, a reception Wednesday night, and lunch on Thursday. Casual attire is appropriate for all functions.
