MEMORANDUM
TO: All Interested Parties
FROM: Chairman Buck Lattimore
DATE: June 13, 2003
RE: Jannock Ltd. Workers’ Compensation Claims in North Carolina
Jannock Ltd. has
filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in the Federal Bankruptcy Court. Jannock
manufactures and markets exterior vinyl products including siding, fencing,
decking and garden accessories; manufactures and markets fabricated steel and
porcelain products including steel roofing and cladding, wall systems and enamel
cladding and panels; and manufactures and markets corrugated steel drainage
pipes, storm sewer pipes, highway guard rails, signs, steel containment products
for the storage of grain, fertilizer and petroleum products, and corrugated
plastic pipes.
Jannock appears to have less than one hundred active
workers’ compensation claims in North Carolina. Jannock is self-insured for
workers’ compensation insurance claims in North Carolina for a limited period
from October 1, 1992 to June 30, 1995. Our current understanding is that Jannock
will continue to process and pay claims arising from the self-insured period
despite the bankruptcy proceeding. Jannock was insured for all other periods of
operation in North Carolina.
Claimants should not experience any inturruption in processing claims or
payment of benefits. If any claimant should experience difficultly, especially
if continuing compensation benefits are not paid timely, notify the Industrial
Commission immediately. Questions or concerns regarding Jannock claims should be
directed to: Stephen T. Gheen, Chief Deputy Commissioner, 919-807-2540 or gheen@ind.commerce.state.nc.us.
Due to the volume of inquiries, email communication is requested if possible,
though not required.
