PUBLIC NOTICE OF RULE-MAKING
BY THE NORTH CAROLINA INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION

(A) TO REVISE AND UPDATE THE EXISTING RULES FOR UTILIZATION OF REHABILITATION PROFESSIONALS IN WORKERS’ COMPENSATION CLAIMS; (B) TO REVISE AND UPDATE THE CURRENT RULES FOR MEDIATED SETTLEMENT AND NEUTRAL EVALUATION CONFERENCES; (C) TO INTRODUCE THE FRAUD RULES.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, pursuant to N.C. Gen. Stat. §97-80(a) and N.C. Gen. Stat. §143-300, the North Carolina Industrial Commission will hold a public hearing on the following matters: (A) revisions to the Rules for Utilization of Rehabilitation Professionals, (B) revisions to the Rules for Mediated Settlement and Neutral Evaluation Conferences, and (C) to introduce the new Fraud Rules. The proposed changes are to become effective in the year 2000. The Commission solicits the comments of all interested persons, firms, and organizations that wish to comment concerning any aspect of the proposed changes to the existing rules or the new Fraud Rules. The Commission requests written comments on the proposed changes.

In addition, THERE WILL BE A PUBLIC HEARING held on Thursday, March 30th, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the first floor hearing room of the Archdale Building, located at 512 N. Salisbury Street, Raleigh, NC, during which the Commission will hear the verbal comments of persons scheduled to speak. Those desiring to make an oral presentation, not to exceed 10 minutes in length, should submit a request on or before Monday, March 27, 2000. Speakers at the public hearing are encouraged to prepare a written summary of remarks for the use of the Commission.
